Welcome to the website of Bach Artist, Vernon Richter.

Vernon Richter is a native of San Antonio, Texas and began playing trumpet in Houston, Texas at the age of eleven. His formal education in trumpet began in 1984 at East Texas State University (currently Texas A&M Commerce) as a Music Performance Major.   Since 2002 Vernon has successfully been privately teaching a full time studio of 65-85 students per week in different school systems in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.  In addition to his private teaching schedule, Vernon also conducts weekly Trumpet Master Classes at the award winning Hebron High School in Lewisville ISD.  His students regularly achieve high positions in the region, area, and state levels of competition on a yearly basis in both Jazz and Band categories. He has had multiple students attend the National Trumpet Competition advancing to the semi-finals round and finals round. He is in demand for teaching Master Classes at the middle and high school level throughout the northeast region of Texas. Vernon has prepared students for The Julliard School of Music, The University of North Texas and Texas Tech University studying Music Performance and Music Education.

Vernon has a passion for teaching at the middle and high school level and helping his students achieve their fullest potentials.  He is a relentless fundamentalist and uses multiple techniques to match the student.  "Playing a particular method that someone else has developed already, like Schlossberg, or Stamp or even Arban will provide a foundation for the students progress, but the concepts within each method is what must be addressed.  Its not always the what, but more the why and how that has to be learned".

Vernon is co-founder and current Vice-President of Center Stage Brass, a 10 member brass ensemble in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex dedicated to performing brass literature and promoting music education.  Founded in 2012 as The Flower Mound Brass Quintet, the group eventually doubled in size to include ten professional musicians.  Center Stage Brass gives numerous recitals each year featuring standards in the repertoire as well as original arrangements and frequently plays in local church services and weddings throughout the area.  Center Stage Brass has been appointed “Artist in Residence” at Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Flower Mound since 2017.  The group fervently promotes music education with its members frequently presenting clinics and master classes throughout the metroplex.  Since 2016, Center Stage Brass has held a week long summer camp for students in high school and middle school.

Vernon regularly subs with the Richardson Symphony and has performed with the East Texas Symphony, Lewisville Symphony, Mesquite Symphony and Flower Mound Symphony.  Vernon is also active as a freelance musician in the DFW area.

Vernon currently resides in Lake Dallas with his wife, Dana, of 28 years.
