Welcome to the website of Bach Endorsing Artist, Vernon Richter.


Vernon Richter is a native of San Antonio, Texas and began playing trumpet in Houston, Texas at the age of eleven. His formal education in trumpet began in 1984 at East Texas State University (currently Texas A&M Commerce) as a Music Performance Major. While at ETSU, he was awarded numerous awards and had the opportunity to perform for International Trumpet Soloist Anthony Plog and to perform with local jazz legend Rodney Booth in concert. Vernon has been fortunate to study with some of the finest teachers in the Dallas area including Conrad Bauschka (ETSU), Bert Truax (former Dallas Symphony Orchestra), Adam Gordon (Ft. Worth Symphony), and James Simms (Dallas Wind Symphony).

Vernon is co-founder and current President of Center Stage Brass, a 10 member brass ensemble in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex dedicated to performing brass literature and promoting music education.  Founded in 2012 as The Flower Mound Brass Quintet,the group eventually doubled in size to include ten professional musicians.  Center Stage Brass gives numerous recitals each year featuring standards in the repertoire as well as original arrangements and frequently plays in local church services and weddings throughout the area.  Center Stage Brass has been appointed “Artist in Residence” at Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Flower Mound for 2017-2018 and 2018-2019.  They are also "Artist in Residence" at Tarrant County Junior College.  The group fervently promotes music education with its members frequently presenting clinics and master classes throughout the metroplex and has successfully completed its first week long summer camp in 2017.

Vernon is arguably one of the areas busiest private lesson teachers with a studio of over 85 students all from Lewisville ISD. In addition to his private teaching schedule, Vernon also conducts weekly Trumpet Master Classes at the award winning Hebron High School in Lewisville ISD.  His students regularly achieve high positions in the region, area, and state levels of competition on a yearly basis in both Jazz and Band categories. He has had multiple students attend the National Trumpet Competition advancing to the semi-finals round and finals round.He is in demand for teaching Master Classes at the middle and high school level throughout the northeast region of Texas. Vernon has students currently attending The Julliard School of Music, The University of North Texas and Texas Tech University studying Music Performance and Music Education.  Vernon works as an instructor with the Williamson/Music 1st production of “T4 Music Mentor”, an on-line video based “how-to” program for beginning trumpet playing.  

Vernon regularly subs with the Richardson Symphony and has performed with the East Texas Symphony, Lewisville Symphony, Mesquite Symphony and Flower Mound Symphony.  Vernon is also active as a freelance musician in the DFW area.

Vernon currently resides in Lake Dallas with his wife, Dana, of 28 years.





About Me

Vernon Richter is a trumpet teacher and performer in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.  He is a charter member with Center Stage Brass, a 10 member brass ensemble.  He has performed with the Richardson Symphony, East Texas Symphony, Flower Mound and Mesquite Symphony. 

Vernon Richter has been playing trumpet since 1977 and has a love for trumpet and the art of playing trumpet.  He has a great desire to help his students become the best that they can be and loves working with them everyday.  Vernon Richter is a Bach Endorsing Artist.
